We sent 14 Juniors riders to the event on Sunday at Colraine riding 70cm, 80cm and 90cm. The 70cm team was a mixed team who finished Team 3rd. The 2 Junior 80cm Teams rode really good rounds with one team finishing 1st and provisionally qualifying for Champs in May and the other team 4th. Millie riding a fantastic round to win the class. Our 90cm team was not placed but Emilia finished a fantastic 3rd Individually.
Well Done to all riders. Erin V. Esme R. Emma W. Rosie B. Megan B. Millie F. Daisy S. Fleur J. Josie J. Emily R. Ava O. Isobel T. Tamsyn M. Emilia P.
We had a fantastic turnout for the Area 19 Junior qualifier on Sunday at Duchy. 12 members stepped forward to compete at the event with some riding both Dressage and Show Jumping.
We set off to a great start with Emma and Megan in the 70cm class. With just 3 double clears in the class Megan took away 2nd place and Emma 5th, a brilliant start to the day.
Then followed the 80cm class, always hotly contested between the clubs. Rosie Busby, Tegan Holdaway, Fleur and Josie Jackson stormed home with a team score of 0 and a faster accumulative score than the runners up to take Team 1st with Rosie Ind 1st, Tegan 3rd and Josie 5th.
The 90cm followed with Issy riding 2 horses in 2 teams, Rosie and Tegan making up the numbers to ensure both teams started with 4 riders and Beth Stephens, Tamsyn Morris, Florence Scard-Morgan and Emilia Poet. Issy with Sammy took the only double clear in the class to finish 1st with the team of Rosie (7th), Tamsyn(6th) and Emilia (13th) they just pipped Cornwall trec to the win, equal faults, but just that bit faster. Team of Issy, Tegan(9th), Beth(8th) and
Florence finished 3rd. Fantastic results for both teams.
The 80cm team have provisionally qualified for Arena UK in Grantham in March and the Intermediate Team for Champs in May at Bury Farm.
Back in May we took 2 teams and an Individual to Aston Le Walls for the National Arena Eventing Championships. We were so lucky to be supported by local companies Pony Poo Ltd and T R Doidge Hay and Straw merchants, providing clothing and support to the riders, along with goodies from Keason Plant Hire, St Ive.

The course was superb, set over 3 arenas with a height change and a large water crossing, this allowed for slopes, steps, ditch jumping and of course the joker!
Arena eventing consists of a round of show jumps leading immediately onto Cross Country fences, it is ridden in XC wear and with a faster speed than SJ alone.
A team of Fleur Jackson, Millie Frost, Rosie Busby and Megan Busby attended the champs taking part in the 80cm event. All riders had fantastic rounds, Rosie completing a clear round, although she did pick up a few time faults with Millie on a few faults but with a faster round with no time faults, showing that you can make up time to cover faults. Fleur and Megan both completed for the whole team to finish and to be placed 6th overall. This is a superb result for the club and the riders.
A team of Phoebe Frost, Beth Witton, Beth Stephens and Tegan Holdaway rode in the 90cm Championship class. A tough competition where they add more drops, bigger ditches and tough lines and distances to challenge both horse and rider. Phoebe rode a storming round to an Individual 3rd place, the big venue proved a challenge for Beth’s young horse, who courageously stepped forward to replace her qualified horse who could not attend due to injury, there was so much going on and his greenness came through, many things learnt and a positive step forward in his education. Beth and Tegan completed with great rounds for a team 9th.
Caroline Wills has kindly offered to run a mid-week camp at Pontispool in October. More details can be found under events or download the booking form below
