What a great day!
A pleasant but cold day saw a reasonable turnout to our Indoor Show which has been held at Duchy College for the last three years.
The morning commenced with our In-Hand Classes judged by Mrs N Harrison from Plymouth and ably assisted by her Steward, Mr L Harrison. There were TSR and South West Pony Association qualifiers amongst the classes and these classes were well supported. The Best Young Handler was won by Millie Login with her chestnut Welsh D Kaydence Whatever who showed her prowess In-Handling, Millie then went on to win the Large M & M Class gaining another In-Hand qualification. The Best Local In-Hand was won by Susan Moore with her Aoiffe followed by the Best Show Hunter Pony won by Waltza Perfect Dreamcatcher with Summer McNair. Sara Caers beautiful chestnut Crabbet Arab Star Fire took the pure bred Arab class then Centyfield Ophelia with Lucy Oelegenn won a very strong solid colour class then followed by winning the Hack/Hunter and the Best Riding Club Horse. Mark Meergans Farrier kindly sponsored our In-Hand Championship which went to Lucy Oelegenn ‘s Centyfield Ophelia and Reserve In-Hand Champion to Millie Login with Kaydence Whatever. At 11a.m. a period of silence was observed for Remembrance Sunday.
The afternoon Ridden classes were split into two rings with Sandra Jones from Horrabridge judging the Indoor Arena. Wildfire Dixie ridden by Milly Bersey won the Best Riding Club Horse with Megan Busby on her lovely coloured taking second with Riverside Prince; Millie & Dixie then went on to win the next class Best Senior Rider . Lovely pictures were taken of the competitors and the day by Abbey Clarke Photography our Official Photographer. Sandra continued her afternoon judging the Best Hack Hunter or Riding Horse / ROR which was won by Anna Hylands with her chestnut mare Peaches. Ella Glennon and Harry took the Best Foreign Breed Class followed on by the Best Coloured class which was won by Megan Busby with Riverside Prince. The best Ridden Heavy Horse went to Beauty ridden by Annoushka Honig. The final Indoor Class of the afternoon was a very strong class Best Ridden Solid Colour and was won by Millie Login with Kaydence Whatever with Tilly Bassett and Pagante a close second. Sandra’s Champion was Anna Hylands with Peaches and her Reserve Champion was Millie Login with Kaydence Whatever; Woollcombe Yonge Solicitors kindly sponsored this Championship.
In the outdoor Arena the afternoon was bright but cold and Lisa Davey had some lovely horses and ponies to judge. Her assistant Tony Pilgrim kept her classes running smoothly The first class of the afternoon was the Best Turned Out ridden and was won by Annoushka Honig & Beauty. Best lead Rein went to six year old Lola Anderson at her first show with her pony Yerbeston Juliette. Best First Ridden went to Dweeb and Jessica Mullen with Ella Glennon and Harry winning the next class Best Junior Rider. Best Pony went to A. Hylands and Peaches. Lydia Jeans with Jake took the M & M Small Breeds and the M & M Large Breeds went to Millie Login with Kaydence Whatever The Best Local Horse/Pony was strongly contested with Ella Glennon on Harry winning, Summer Mc Nair and Spider second and Rosie Busby on Toby third. The Veteran Class was our final Class of the afternoon and went to N Hadfield riding Glen.
Lisa Davey’s Champion was N Hadfield with Glen and A Hylands with Peaches as Resereve Champion. The Championship was sponsored by our own Brenda Williams Treasurer ECRC.
